ProLingua: A fresh approach to traditional language learning, designed with busy corporate leaders in mind

Traditional language training needs to adapt a fresh approach that suits busy corporate leaders so that they can build better relationships with foreign colleagues and partners.

With globalisation, it’s easier to do business internationally than ever before. In a global company, we simply cannot progress without the knowhow and experience to deal with other cultures and languages. Corporations with international ambitions need multilingual employees to effectively sell their products and services.

The top ten languages of the Uk’s current most important export markets (excluding English) are German, Dutch, French, Mandarin and other Chinese languages, Spanish, Italian, Swedish, Russian, Arabic and Japanese. (Office for National Statistics, June 2017 report)

Willy Brandt, the former Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany once famously said:

“If I’m selling to you, I speak your language. But if I’m buying, dann müssen Sie Deutsch sprechen [then you have to speak German].”

Language deficit, if not tackled, is a threat to the competitiveness and influence of British businesses in the world. Ultimately, the language gap can obstruct major international transactions, resulting in loss of business and financial loss.

I’m Gabriella Ferenczi, London (Uk) based German & Hungarian Language Coach. My clients approach me when they experience first hand that they need to speak another language so they can take advantage of international business opportunities but don’t know how to learn easily and speedily.

Language Coaching – a modern and holistic approach.

In the past 10 years, I’ve worked with over 100 clients who learnt German and Hungarian with me. I realised that these extremely busy, hard-working, stressed out and time-poor business leaders with strong personalities needed a different approach to learning a new language. That’s how the concept of language coaching was born.

I’ve worked with clients in various industries from finance, insurance, law to fashion. I’ve coached people working for some of the largest international organisations including Barclays, Allianz, Goldman Sachs, Aberdeen Asset Management, Deloitte, PwC, Dior, Luis Vuitton Moet Hennessy just to name a few.

I’ve helped these individuals to prepare for important meetings and presentations, business trips. I’ve helped clients get from scratch to reading, watching and understanding industry news, important documents and contracts. I’ve helped them to participate in email flows and panel discussions, or just make the right first impression on their business partners.

I discovered that there are 7 key ingredients to make a language learning process speedy, easy, enjoyable and highly effective for business people.

I’ve put all of this into a language coaching programme which is designed to help overcome these problems in the fastest possible way, respecting the client’s learning style, personality and busy schedule. Natural conversations are at the core of the process which makes the whole experience very relaxed, authentic and lifelike.

ProLingua’s aim is to help international business leaders do business by developing their foreign language skills so that they can connect with foreign colleagues and partners. The programmes are tailored to best serve busy corporate leaders of 7 to 9 figure businesses in the finance industry.

Become functionally fluent – easily and speedily.

At ProLingua, we’re all about functional fluency: we believe that what matters most is being able to understand and to be understood.

When participants do these individual language coaching programmes, they start to communicate more effectively and productively with foreign colleagues and partners, they feel more confident when speaking in the target language, they are able to follow conversations and talk freely in important situations.

Over the course of the programmes, coachees go through a very rewarding personal development journey where they learn as much about the target language as they learn about different cultures and themselves.

As a result, they start to speak the language confidently, they understand what’s being said to them and they are understood. They can develop better relationships with foreign partners, better relationships lead to better sales, improved profit and market share.

The ProLingua Coaches: much more than language teachers.

To become a ProLingua Coach, teachers undergo an extensive on-boarding training that includes basics of business and the financial services industry, effective coaching practices, latest findings in language learning and adult eduction. Executives feel reassured and are more trusting and open when they see that their teacher knows a thing or two of the business they’re in. This forms a great basis for working together toward a certain goal.

ProLingua is expanding now with more major languages
becoming available in October 2017.
