It’s the first day of spring, hallelujah! New season, new beginnings.
Change used to be a tabu word in my vocabulary.
I just loved (and let’s admit that part of me still loves) predictability, knowing what the day holds and I also love (note – present tense!) planning everything from morning latte till lights out.
Comfy, lazy weekends and the occasional chilling out with friends, family and travelling meant to me the ultimate wind down time after work.
And that seemed to be the circle of life and this passive position seemed to have kept me happy – or as I would now put it, it just stuffed my mouth with sweets but after a sugary high came an all time carb low and the realisation that there should be more to life surely. The this-is-just-not-enough feeling started to sneak in.
Then I came across a book by the brilliant Michael E. Gerber, called The E-Myth, which I believe is a must read for anyone thinking about setting up a business, and I read the following:
The difference between great people and everyone else is that
great people create their lives actively, while everyone else is created by their lives, passively waiting where life takes them next. The difference between the two is the difference between
LIVING FULLY
and just existing …Michael E. Gerber: The E-Myth
That book was a huge wake-up call in many ways. Suddenly, I realised that in order to live life to the full I need to embrace change, even initiate it and then just go with it so I can be the driver and creator of our life instead of just being someone who observes what’s happening to them.
Does change come with pain? More often than not, yes.
How long does it last? I’m not sure, but one thing is certain: It is only TEMPORARY.
We have been through some major changes recently, both in business and in our personal lives. I can say that the painful period lasts so much shorter now that we have CHANGED our attitude towards — guess what? CHANGE! (Excuse the pun.)
We became more patient, more accepting and understanding, and that has made a major difference to our lives.
What are your thoughts about change? How specifically, have you handled change in your business and/or personal life? Please share your ideas, and stories in the comments below.
Know someone who is going through a tough time? Please share this if you found it helpful.
With love,
I am really embracing change at the moment, after writing my own article on change, I’ve really appreciated yours; the similarities and the differences. Ive been reflecting a lot recently to see how far I have come and how change has helped me grow. Happy Spring Gabriella :)

Thank you for your kind comment, Jordanhka. Your post on change is such an interesting and inspiring read too, – indeed so many similarities, yet differences. I guess everyone has his/her own journey in life, and it is up to us how we shape it and form it. Keep going and let’s make it a great one! :)
